Upon relocating to Japan, I quickly realized the importance of graphics in telling a story.
With most writing being incomprehensible to me without a translation, I relied heavily on visual cues to understand the world around me. This experience informed my journey into UX/UI design and designing for everyone, without any language barriers. My first foray into this type of design was creating an infographic that could instruct a process entirely through visuals. I felt it was important to focus solely on conveying instructions through graphics. This project pushed me to think critically about how to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner. Through this experience, I gained a new appreciation for the power of design in communication, and the impact it can have in breaking down language barriers.
